Relay For Life Ayrshire 2025 · 16 August 2025 ·
I am running as part of the Irvine Cancer Research Stores team! It’s where I met LJ who sold me the wedding dress for the music video and the stars must have aligned on that day because they had just done an Abbey Road esq crossing, in that very dress the day before, that they were then going to promote on their socials… Not only that, LJ and me drummed up an instant friendship which has involved many a night on the tiles, fancy dinners and joining me in burning said wedding dresses for the music video!
I will also be performing a 45min slot on stage entertaining people, as I probably puke up my guts from running, which I hate by the way … so I will be bouncing round that track and dancing which will def make me puke so apologies if I cause an electrical malfunction on stage or collapse in a heap, all I can promise is some good entertainment will be had, probably at my own expense!
The real reason we are doing this is below though!
Relay For Life celebrates the power of community fundraising to make breakthroughs happen. Across the UK and the globe, teams of friends, families and colleagues fundraise for world-leading research to save and improve lives, then unite as a community at an event to honour everyone affected by cancer and celebrate the progress we’re making.
How does the money you raise power progress?
- £65 could buy special restriction enzymes. These act like molecular scissors to cut long strands of DNA, allowing our scientists to find out more about the genes that can cause cancer.
- £220 could fund our team of nine cancer nurses for one hour. Our nurse helpline offers confidential support and guidance to people affected by cancer.
When you fundraise for Relay For Life, you’re helping fund research and make discoveries. You’re helping bring about a world where everybody can live longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
Together we are beating cancer.
Thank you for your support.
