Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
My Mum has had kidney problems for quite a while now and we would like to give something back to the kidney Charity (The National Kidney Federation)
To do this we will be trying to set the record for a return crossing to France using only a kite and board (kitesurfing). We will start the crossing from Dungeness in Kent and head across using the prevailing South Westerly wind to reach France. The idea is to touch French soil/sand
(hopefully not rocks!) very quickliy and head striaight back. We have requested recognition from the Guiness Book of records and they have declined saying they will only recognise the long distance record which is a bit different to ours. Not to worry though this is about speed!!!. The wind can be unpredictable so we have allowed a 2 weeks window in Sept to allow us a better chance of success.
All four team members have been Kitesurfing for five or more years this should allow us to keep a good head of speed throughout the trip, we are aiming for an average speed of 18knts. The total distance is 45 Miles.
We have two Safety RIBS following us for the whole journey as the channel is the busiest shipping lane in the world.
We hope to be able to complete this in Under 3 and a half hours.
We would be very gratful for all donations.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: National Kidney Federation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
