Story

Lili and Leo are two beautiful looking, beautiful natured kittens (brother and sister) which were found abandoned in the UN compound in Kabul, Afghanistan last year. When discovered, they were malnourished, in poor health and had a very uncertain future, with little hope they could survive. Yet, after some decent meals, nurturing, veterinary care, and a lot of TLC, both kittens are now happy, fit and the sweetest of companions. Although a bit energetic to handle!

However, they remain subject to chase and bully by bigger and feral cats, as well as infectious diseases, and lack of proper care in this sad conflict zone.

A loving home in UK has potentially been found for both kittens, but we need support to fly them out of Afghanistan. Both kittens completed the necessary blood tests, vaccinations, and the required “waiting period” to meet the necessary animal passport requirements, and are now ready to be rescued. The cost of international repatriation (including all future medical examinations and tests) is estimated to be £5,000. The kittens’ repatriation will be in collaboration with Nowzad (an animal rescue charity, based in Kabul, Afghanistan) and The Archie Cruickshank Foundation.

Message from the Kittens

We are two Afghan kittens born and bred in an international compound in Kabul, Afghanistan. The first time a human spotted us, we were three, but we lost our brother, and our cat-mum never showed up again - such is life in Kabul.

After losing our brother and our mum, we were left on our own in this big, unfriendly compound. There are many humans that we don’t like here, and several other cats, bigger than us, and with some major attitude issues (maybe because they know they are not close to being as cute as we are). We were living and hiding under a 40’ container, when one of the humans kept showing up, demanding love and attention – which at times, we did offer (don’t judge us, as the tuna smelled too good to resist).

We have finally persuaded a team of human-servants to take care of us, feed us, love us, and shelter us. When big bad cats are around the corner, we are not entirely convinced of our safety. It is our basic cat right to have a loving home with a nice human, who will feed us as we demand, and offer us plenty of cuddles as we require. So please help the humans here to get us out of here.

In return, we might share a little bit of our cuteness through several photos and videos  – you’re very welcome :)
