Improving the awareness of Aphasia - Raising money for SAY APHASIA Charity. We support people with aphasia to enable them to re-connect with life. 350,000 people in UK have aphasia!

Story

Most of you know that that I work as a Speech and Language Therapist. I specialise in supporting adults with acquired brain injuries e.g. Stroke.
Aphasia is a complex language disorder resulting from damage to the brain. It has devastating consequences as it can rob you of your ability  to communicate. I have worked with some truly inspirational people living with Aphasia. They have helped me to set up a Befriending scheme to reach people isolated by the condition, and have now gone on to set up their own charity 'Say Aphasia' www.sayaphasia.org.

These amazing people have not let a brain injury destroy their lives.  Quite the opposite.  They are determined  to raise awareness of the condition, whilst offering support and a life line to so many people and their families affected by it.
Raising money for this worthwhile cause would help them to secure accommodation for their weekly support meetings, as well as expanding beyond Brighton and Hove to reach more people suffering in silence.
Doing the triathlon is a walk in the park compared to the challenges people with aphasia face on a daily basis.  Please help me to raise some cash for this deserving bunch.

About the campaign

Improving the awareness of Aphasia - Raising money for SAY APHASIA Charity. We support people with aphasia to enable them to re-connect with life. 350,000 people in UK have aphasia!

About the charity

Aphasia is always due to injury to the brain, and most commonly from a stroke. The difficulties of people with aphasia can range from occasional trouble finding words to losing the ability to speak, read, or write. Aphasia affects a person's language, but it doesn't affect a person's intelligence.
