Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page!

We are Kiyomi and Alex, and we are together fundraising for Age UK Kensington and Chelsea, where Alex has volunteered for the last eight months alongside getting his master's degree.

The Royal Parks Half Marathon is probably the best half marathon in the UK. Every year, there is a ballot, so when we heard that there was an opportunity to run this (or at least for Kiyomi), we said yes to this since the cause is important to us. Kiyomi is an avid runner and Alex is an avid supporter, so together we are doing this together to raise awareness.

There are few things in life that are inevitable. Aging is one of them. We will all get old one day. As both millennials, aging is not something we think about. We do our daily activities - everything from grocery shopping to commuting to work without thinking about too much. However, we are lucky that we are physically able to do so. As our societies become more old, we believe that no one should have to compromise the basic needs in life. Alex has therefore volunteered with this organization, mostly escorting the elderly to ensure that they are safe and they have someone to talk to.

This also isn't just a physical issue. Loneliness and safety are both barriers to the elderly in achieving their most fulfilling lives. Age UK is therefore raising money to ensure that these people can participate in activities, which not only improves their physical health, but also mental health.

We are very grateful that you have visited our fundraising page. We want to publicly thank people for donating. If you cannot donate, but are in London on October 13th, Kiyomi will surely love to see your face as well!
