Edit 26th October 2009: thank you so much to all you kind and generous people who supported us! Over £1100 - wow.

We all got round in one piece, although getting to Dorney Lake was tricky when relying on GPS...we arrived as the race was about to start and had to jog over 1 km to the start line. Didn't need a warm up...

The weather was gorgeous but incredibly windy - making it very hard work - faces will be obscured by hair in any race photos.

4 of us ran in the end with the lovely Helen fastest at 55 minutes. Katie was next at 1:07:40 with me (Karen) hot on her very tall heels at 1:07:50. The achilles remained fairly intact! Special mention must go to Mairi-Claire who took the whole training thing seriously - 3 runs and a hangover - to still manage 1:11:30 (or there abouts).

I had mad ideas to get round in under 1 hour, but my achilles is playing up, so I will be satisfied (this time) with getting round in one piece. I am truly built for comfort and not speed, having run a number of 10km races in the past, most in just under an hour. Emphasis on the just...
