We all got round in one piece, although getting to Dorney Lake was tricky when relying on GPS...we arrived as the race was about to start and had to jog over 1 km to the start line. Didn't need a warm up...
The weather was gorgeous but incredibly windy - making it very hard work - faces will be obscured by hair in any race photos.
4 of us ran in the end with the lovely Helen fastest at 55 minutes. Katie was next at 1:07:40 with me (Karen) hot on her very tall heels at 1:07:50. The achilles remained fairly intact! Special mention must go to Mairi-Claire who took the whole training thing seriously - 3 runs and a hangover - to still manage 1:11:30 (or there abouts).

I will be running the 10km Race For Life at Dorney Lake on Sunday 25th October 2009, with Katie (Tormented Space from Darcylicious) and my sister Mairi-Claire.
We shall be running in memory of my lovely mum, Irene Connor, who lost her battle with lung cancer on 14th July 2009.
Katie and I always planned on running a 10km race this year, and my mum had been keen for us to to find one which would raise money for cancer research. I had hoped my mum could have been there to support us on the day, but sadly she will be watching over us instead.
I had mad ideas to get round in under 1 hour, but my achilles is playing up, so I will be satisfied (this time) with getting round in one piece. I am truly built for comfort and not speed, having run a number of 10km races in the past, most in just under an hour. Emphasis on the just...
