British Heart Foundation - Insomnia Bedgebury Night Ride · 19 September 2009 ·
WE DID IT - and no one was hurt (much).
After 12 hours, 18 laps (at 9 miles each you can do the maths), lots of tea and very little or no sleep we completed the race.

Thanks to all who sponsored us, and to Al's firm for matching £250. Same time/place next year maybe....?

Ahh, you have found the hideaway home of the Knebworth Nights' sponsorship page. We be a small team of 4 with big ideas and bold plans. On the night of the 19th Sept we will be venturing where litterally only thousands before us have passed - into the dark terror that is Bedgebury. Will our courage hold, will our camel-backs last, will our lights work - no one knows!
The team of 4 consists of:
Rich - by day he is an IT whiz-kid, by night he is a gadget-freak with so many bits on his ultra-light bike that it is no longer ultra-light.
Joe - by day he is a telco manager, by night he has the amazing ability to destroy a set of brake pads in 30 mins flat and then ride the rest of the way in an unstoppable fashion.
Si - by day he is a money-man for one of the world's large enterprises, by night he overcompensates and will ride his bike into any situation, why he is not dead yet we don't know.
Al - by day he is a city lawyer, by night he trains in an athletic fashion and as such is probably our best hope of sucess, although we have to work on the screaming.
---
OK - the serious bit - we'll be riding as a team of 4 for 12 hours straight from 20:00 to 08:00 over the somewhat tricky (in the day) cycle-paths of Bedgebury. These are mostly within the woods and contain a mixture of technical sections, uphills and flowing downhills. We get to relay but at least one of us from the team must be on track at any one point. Undoubtedly it will be raining :)
Remember - in the woods no one can hear you scream!*

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Heart Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

*unless it is one of Al's loud girly yelps that is - everyone will hear that - from miles off - I mean they are not at all subtle!
