On July 29th 2023, Ashmore employees from Japan, Indonesia and Singapore will spend 12 hours trekking the iconic Mt. Fuji in Japan. Over the span of 2 days they will summit 3700m to the peak to raise funds for the Ashmore Foundation.

Story

We need YOUR help to raise funds to support women and young people towards their dream of an economically independent future. From July 29th-30th 2023, colleagues from Ashmore Japan, Singapore and Indonesia will be summitting the legendary Mount Fuji in Japan. Heralded as one of the most challenging climbs in the region, this will test our team's endurance as they work together to summit the 3700m peak.

The Ashmore Challenge Event Team have signed up to months of mental and physical preparation all so they can raise funds to make a difference in the lives of people such as Rita Pramanik, a local mother and volunteer who has been trained as part of a women-led Community Safety Group to prevent child marriage and forced labour. Rita is part of a Child Protection project delivered in West Bengal by Ashmore Foundations long-term partner, Aangan Trust.Rita Pramanik, trained community volunteer, Aangan Trust, West Bengal

Having chickened out for the last 11 attempts, i have decided to rouse up my courage to take up the challenge and hope to make a small contribution for a very worthy cause. This is my inaugural attempt and hope you can be a part of this effort. My sincerely thanks.   I would also like to take this opportunity to say a BIG thank you to the current and past Ashmore Foundation Committee members for their dedication, a heart warming effort and work. Cheer on !!!!!!

About the Ashmore Foundation

WHAT: The Ashmore Foundation seeks to tackle inequality and social injustice in order to make a positive and sustainable difference in emerging markets communities. Through our strategic grant making, we aim to quip people with the skills and resources they need to generate an income and meet their basic needs. Our projects also support economic growth and begin to address broader societal inequalities, which can enhance human welfare, opportunities and skills particularly for the most vulnerable: women, children and young people and disadvantaged communities.

HOW: To achieve our goals, the Foundation aims to develop long-term relationships with high impact local non-government organisations (NGOs). Our financial support enables these organisations to directly enhance human welfare, opportunities and skills, particularly for the most vulnerable: children, young people and disadvantaged communities. By supporting organisations that know the context and culture in which they are working, and are thus well placed to achieve sustainable results in their communities, these partnerships benefit from the strong understanding of pressing social issues, what is already being done to address them and where the gaps and critical points of leverage are.
WHO: The Foundation is supported through a generous donation of by Ashmore and its employees globally. Crucially, this support from employees extends beyond financial aid through to active engagement in fundraising and a network of support which includes mentoring and helping NGOs expand their network of contacts.
WHERE: The Foundation makes grants to charities based in Emerging Market countries where Ashmore PLC has presence. Our priority countries are Peru, India, Indonesia and Colombia.
Impact: The Ashmore Foundation has donated over £4 million to charitable causes since 2008
