Starting a YouTube channel as a goal I want to reach in 2020 as I turn 22 while balancing time between academics and extra-curricular activities is not easy in itself. But - as I can stay at home, joking around with memes and reading satire videos, I recognize there are many more who will never have the chance to live a "normal" life again in Hong Kong, only because they stand firm against the tyranny perpetrated by the Hong Kong government.
Therefore, in lieu of gifts, I ask that you donate to Hong Kong Watch, a non-governmental organization in the United Kingdom that monitors the rule of law in Hong Kong, founded by Benedict Rogers, a British human rights activist. It is the least I can do to fight for democracy financial-wise.
Since June 2019, Hong Kong people have been fighting against the authoritarian governance and police brutality. Throughout the months of mass protests, universities were sieged, monuments were sprayed with colored water, and people were arbitrarily arrested, severely wounded and died in suspicious circumstances. Hong Kong people are left traumatized, both physically and mentally, with the aftermath possibly continuing for decades to come [Source: https://time.com/5743663/tear-gas-hong-kong/].
