KPS Year 4 Lend Their Voices

Lauren Fincham is raising money for Refugee Action

KPS Year 4 Lend Their Voices · 1 March 2022

Refugee Action provides direct support to people seeking safety in the UK, as well as campaigning for their rights. Our vision is that refugees and people seeking asylum will be welcome in the UK. They will get justice, live free of poverty and be able to successfully rebuild their lives.

Story

At school, our teacher Miss Fincham read us a story called The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Rauf. It is a story of friendship and kindness about a refugee boy called Ahmet who suddenly arrives in a classroom one day, with a desperately sad story and the hope of friendship.

This story has inspired us to do what we can to support children like Ahmet across the world who are escaping terrible danger to try and start a new chapter. We hope that we can raise some money to help provide services and support for refugees to help them find their happy ending.

On 2nd March we are taking a vow of silence for the whole 24 hours and we will instead be lending our voices to be advocates for refugee children. We are a bubbly, energetic class full of personality so staying silent for such a long time will not be easy! We would be very grateful for any sponsorship you are able to offer us which will all be donated to the charity Refugee Action.

Refugee Action have been standing up for refugees since 1981, and their vision is that refugees and people seeking asylum will be welcome in the UK. They deliver frontline services for refugees, and campaign for their rights. Please donate if you can, and help fight for a fairer future for refugees and people seeking safety.
