After getting to a stage in life where I couldn't even run for a bus, I decided that I needed to take action! 

Running the London Marathon has long been an ambition of mine and so this year I am embarking on a challenge that was inspired by an exercise programme called 'Couch 2 5k'. This programme aims to get people exercising and motivates them to achieve something that they never thought they could.

I have decided to take this further and have challenged myself to go from Couch 2 Marathon. I will be running in 3 progressively harder events on the way to completing this challenge, raising as much money as I possibly can for Havens Hospices along the way. 

My first event is a 10k run on 3rd August 2019 at the Olympic Park, London. Following on from this, I will be running a half-marathon on 6th October 2019 at the Colchester Zoo Stampede. After this, with support from Southend United Football Club and Evening Echo Sports writer Chris Phillips, I will be completing a 3/4 marathon on 11th January 2020 when the Blues will be playing Tranmere Rovers, running from my home to Roots Hall, the home of Southend United. With the help of the club, my aim is to complete a lap of the pitch collecting donations from supporters on completion of this run. As a long-term Southend season ticket holder, I can then settle down and enjoy the match, which will hopefully see 3 points for The Shrimpers! 

My target is £3000, an amount which I know will be gratefully received by Havens. This amazing charity helps to support families when they have been told that their loved one's illness cannot be cured. They offer support in many different ways and they can only offer this vital support with donations from their support.
