My sister in law was taken too soon by the scourge of Ovarian Cancer in 2019 aged 49. Anything I can do so that no other family loses a mother, sister, or daughter from this insidious disease will benefit many I hope.

My mission has already helped in raising awareness so that a friend has been diagnosed early based on the early symptoms:

bloated tummy,

always feeling full,

tummy pain,

needing to wee more.

I have completed over 40 Marathons to date and this challenge will take me to 50 in total, and there is nothing more fitting than to run them in Sues memory.

The earlier a woman is diagnosed with ovarian cancer the more likely she will respond to treatment. But most women are diagnosed once the disease has already spread, and one in five is diagnosed too late for any treatment at all. 

Without a serious boost in awareness, women will continue to be diagnosed too late. Target Ovarian works to raise the profile of ovarian cancer, spread the word about the symptoms, and train GPs in early diagnosis. Together we can do more.
