UPDATED:
Turns out running 20k wasn't a big enough challenge, so not only am I running a half marathon on 8th September but I've decided to up the ante and just over 2 weeks later on the 29th I'll be taking part in a 10k memory walk too!
For those that aren't in the loop, 3 years ago my lovely Grandma passed away after suffering from Alzheimer's Disease for years. It was an incredibly tough time for the whole family and as one of the grandchildren, I also witnessed first hand the pain it caused (and still does) my Grandad and the rest of the family.
I've wanted to help this charity for a while so when I was sat at home one Friday night and saw the half marathon challenge come up I signed for it before I could talk myself out of it - something I'm starting to regret as race day gets nearer!
In exchange for people watching me take on this mammoth running task whereby my unique style is sure to raise a giggle as well as a few eyebrows, I've asked for them to donate some of their hard earned cash to the charity.
I've been geniunely warmed by the amount of donations and words of support coming from friends and family, both old and new, and even people I don't personally know so far - but apparently this wasn't enough to reach the £500 mark.
So with a little persuasion (read, outright bullying) from the fam, I've decided to join them 2 weeks after race day and embark on a 10k walk as well.
30k in 30 days, over 2 days has surely got to be worth a few bob so please dig deep and sponsor today.
Thanks everybody!
