Event: 50th Dysart's Snowmobile Ride-In & Q106.5 Egg Ride, on 4 February 2023
Beginning in 1974, the Ride-in to benefit Pine Tree Camp has become a tradition with snowmobilers riding to support Pine Tree Camp, a summer camp for Maine children and adults with disabilities.

Story

Pine Tree Camp opened its gates in 1945 as a summer camp for children with physical disabilities. Over the years, it has evolved into a place where children and adults with disabilities are able to participate in all the recreational activities for which Maine is known all year long. The barrier-free setting, along with an amazing staff, ensure that activities like swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, boating and even camping in a tent under the stars are completely accessible to all. Participating in activities that take people beyond their disability has a tremendous impact. It builds self-esteem and self-confidence. That experience coupled with meeting friends who understand and experiencing the feeling of acceptance is transformational. Pine Tree Camp welcomes all who could benefit regardless of their ability to pay tuition. All proceeds from the Snowmobile Ride-In will go to Pine Tree Camp's fund to ensure this "Open Door Policy" remains in effect.

Get to know Kris MacCabe
Celebrity rider Kris MacCabe is a familiar face from North Woods Law. He grew up in Monmouth and has been a Maine Game Warden for 16 years. He was Egg Rider in 2015 and looks forward to getting covered in eggs afain (and smashing a few on his coworkers!). He believes every day is an adventure and is excited to raise money for Pine Tree Campers to experience new adventures outdoors.

Have you ridden a snowmobile before?
I gew up riding snowmobiles. My first sled was an Arctic Cat Kitty Cat. In high school, we'd ride our snowmobiles to school. I had a Ski-Doo MXZ440 Fan and it would take me an hour and 15 minutes to get to school. It was so much fun. A bunch of us would ride together. We loved riding so much we'd come home after school then head back later on our sleds to go to the basketball game.

Do you like winter?
I love winter. Other than fall, it's my favorite time of year. I like to deer hunt in the fall. In the winter I love to ice fish and ski. There's so much to do outdoors in the snow. I grew up ice fishing with my family and we'd ride snowmobiles together to get to the ice.

Why is this snomwobile ride meaningful to you?
The Maine Warden Service has a lot of roots in Pine Tree Camp and it's a cause I've always loved to support. It's such a good program and such a great location. I took part in teh Egg Ride in 2015 and it was so much getting covered with eggs. I'm also involved with Special Olympics Maine and have met a lot of campers and couselors through that event over the years and have seen how much camp means to people.

What is your favorite song right now?
I like a little bit of everything. Luke Combs is the man of the hour right now and I listen to him a lot. I like Chris Stapleton. For old school, I love listening to Tim McGraw. When I was a young kid I loved Kris Kross because they wore their clothes backwards and had the same name as me, spelled with a "K".
