Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal
Campaign by The British Red Cross Society (RCN Eng/Wales 220949,Scot SC037738, IOM 0752, Jers 430)
Following the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, we have launched an emergency appeal. Whilst the situation is still developing there are immediate and severe needs for those affected.

Story

On 6 February 2023, a high magnitude earthquake struck in Türkiye and Syria at 7.8 on the Richter scale. This was followed by approximately 78 aftershocks and then a second earthquake of 7.5 magnitude. Countless lives have been lost and the full scale of this devastating natural disaster is still unfolding.

This page has been set up by Kingston University's School of Law, Social and Behavioural Sciences in the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences. We are holding a solidarity event at the University to support students, staff and the local community affected by this devastating event. We would like to encourage those who are able to do so, to donate towards this worthy cause. Your donation will help those affected by this devastating earthquake which has led to approximately 41,000 deaths and many who have lost their homes. All funds will go directly to the Red Cross charity. The Red Cross will "provide blankets and tents, and supporting local relief efforts" through the funds raised

Alongside this appeal, we are also organising a solidarity event on 23rd February at Kingston University. Please visit our events page for more information. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/turkiye-and-syria-earthquake-solidarity-event-tickets-546213919537
