Story
Hey Friends,
This coming Sunday I am running in the Melbourne Half
Marathon to fundraise for an amazing organisation call YSAS (Youth Support +
Advocacy Service).
YSAS is in charge of organisations such a Headspace which is
an amazing service available to young people struggling with mental health problems
and substance abuse.
Earlier this year I was having my own struggles with my own
mental health and Headspace was extremely valuable service which contributed to
helping me get back into the right frame of mind. I highly recommend if you are ever feeling
down in a rut and feel helpless to reach out to services like headspace. The people there are amazing professionals
which can help you through some of your issues as well as teach you how to stay
in a healthy frame of mind. The environment
is extremely non-judgemental and the workers are very understanding and relatable.
Did you know that more than 45% of Australians aged 16-85
years have at some point in life experienced a mental illness? Yet 65% percent
of people who are struggling mentally don’t take serious steps, like seeing
someone about it? Mental health is just
as, if not more important than physical health so don’t be ashamed to go see
someone! It’s no different to going to
see a GP about a virus. It is important
to look after yourself.
My goal is to reach $1000 before Sunday! Any amount of donation will be greatly
appreciated!
Thank you!
