Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

On 18 July, we completed the London-Southend bike ride for The British Heart Foundation!  A 60 mile cycle challenge!  And this is a real challenge for our group of persistent pedallers - some of whom have scant riding experience.  The British Heart Foundation is an important charity; heart health affects us all and the organisation is fundamental in helping us to stay ticking for longer!

Please sponsor us and make all the sweat and tears worthwhile!

Our brave and merry band includes:

Lady Catherine of Africa; our intrepid leader and world-reknowned adverturess. Recently returned from the dark continent where she conversed with gorillas, wrestled lions (well, took photos from a safe distance) and managed not to be too girly around Really Quite Large spiders.  Lady Catherine's spirit of endeavour should get us through the day!

Michelle la Martini: glamorous leading female football player recently signed to Chelmsford FC for the princessley sum of £125 million Earth pounds.  When not in her boots, Michelle relaxes by writing and illustrating her famed children's books: The Delightful Adventures of Jack & Spud.  Michelle is quite new to the world of wheels, but is determined to come through for her many fans around the globe.

Dr Gareth Mills: Chief Navigator for our band of intrepid voyagers.  Dr Gareth developed a passion for map-making at the age of 5, when he successfully navigated a team of errant toddlers, and a small, inquisitive, but rather pungent, dog, to find the source of a nearby lake: known locally as Padd-Ling Pool.  Dr Gareth has been training intensively; turning many laps in the comfort of his front room, where he finds he's bothered little by other motorists and has ready access to a decent cup of tea.

Professor Fenella Patrick-Williamson: Purveyor of quality leather-bound books and holding a doctorate in ecomological science, the Professor is not a man to be trifled with. Unless it's an exceedly well-bred trifle containing a decent snifter of sherry.  Prof. Fenella is an experienced rider and takes the greatest care of his chopper, which is an impressive size. And, as I write this after the event, I am pleased to tell you that the Prof. beat the whole team to the finish. Jolly good show ole chap!

Miss Dusty Bottems: celebrated burlesque artiste and tassel spinner extraordinaire!  Dusty only took to the saddle this year, on her lovely pink chopper. Which seemed appropriate.  Although the bike is rather heavy, and has but one gear; it is pink, and therefore Dusty feels confident of successfully completing the 60 miles with her corsetry fully intact.

Mr Hywel McArdle: ancient, amateur Gentleman Adventurer and engineer to the party. Mister McArdle's steam-powered contraptions are in demand from the farthest corners of the globe. When not training on his Penny Farthing deluxe-mobil, he can be found a-tinkering in his man-shed, bedecked in goggles, soot and a sensible, and appropriately gentlemanly, hat.

Mistress Hazel Jennings. Hazelnut to her pals, the statuesque, elegant Mistress J runs her finishing school for "Charming Ladies and Cocker Spaniels" with a firm but fair hand.  Ever accompanied by her trusty canine companion, Badger, Hazel has been training in suitably ladylike fashion, with regular breaks for the supping of a finely nosed wine. Chin chin!
