Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It has been a very difficult year for all of us and the importance of mental health has become more apparent than ever before. Many are struggling with anxiety or depression and it’s never easy to gather the strength to reach out for help, some may not even know there is an option. So I've setup a page to raise money for Mind and have decided to embark on a personal challenge.

I will produce an orchestral mock-up of Debussy’s La Mer (1st movement) using Spitfire Audio BBC Symphony Orchestra virtual instrument.

The piece is roughly 9 mins long and I will be reading and playing the individual parts from the score. I am not a composer and never read an orchestral score before, not even programmed a mockup before and it’s proving to be more challenging than initially thought, but I am already learning so much from it! The plan is to work on one page per day and it should take about a month time if I stick to it.

Amongst the many lessons learnt this year are the importance of perseverance, the ability to re-invent oneself and never give up on your dreams, but most importantly to share and help out. I’ve been dreaming about writing orchestral music since I was a kid and this project will surely take me a step or two closer to that direction.

I won’t lie. It's all a bit frightening and 9 minutes of orchestral music feels like a monumental effort as a first project. So, if you feel like showing some support please consider making a small donation on my fundraising page, it would mean a lot and definitely help keeping me motivated to get to the end of it.

It’s also worth reminding that Spitfire Audio regularly pays royalties to the musicians involved in the making of these instruments. Thank you SA for making these inspiring and empowering tools.
