London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
After a last minute decision we have given ourselves 9 weeks to train for a marathon...completely nuts, we know...but we are doing it to raise money for Brain Research UK who fund research on neurological conditions to improve many peoples standard of life, allowing us to live healthier lives for longer.
There are currently an estimated 11 million people in the UK who are living with a neurological conditions and 1 in 5 deaths is due to a neurological condition. These can be sudden onset (stroke or traumatic brain injury) or progressive, degenerative conditions like Alzheimers.
Brain Research UK are currently focussing their funding on three main areas:
1. Brain Tumours - 12,100 people in the UK are diagnosed with a primary brain tumour and 5,400 people in the UK are lost to brain tumours every year
2. Brain and Spinal cord injury - a head injury is the leading cause of death and disability in people aged 1 to 40
3. Headache and facial pain - there are 190,000 migraine attacks that occur every day in the UK and the annual cost to the UK economy is £10 billion
We would love it if you could help us to help them continue to fund some incredible research projects with the aim of increasing peoples standard of life :)
