MAHECAS aims to relieve sickness and preserve good health among Hospitals, Health Clinics, Surgeries and other places where Primary Health care is dispensed in Malawi by the provision of medical and other equipment and of medical expertise, training and personnel.

Story

Length and Height of Britain (LAHOB)

Three of us with a combined age of 200 years plan to cycle from Land's End (LE) to John o' Groats (JOG), walking up (and down) Ben Nevis on the way.   We would like this to be for the benefit of sick children and adults in Malawi, a cause for which we would much appreciate your help.

The riders will be Christo Impey, Ben Trenouth and Malcolm Molyneux.   Liz Molyneux  will drive a car along roughly the same route, to ensure safety and discipline.

Between us we have worked for a total of 60 person-years in Malawi.

We aim to set off from LE on 1st September 2011, to climb Ben Nevis on 14th September and to arrive at JOG on 17th September (also 2011, we hope).

Donated funds will be channeled through Malawi Health Care Services [MAHECAS (UK)] – [UK registered charity No. 1057994] (http://www.mahecas.info/).  To make a contribution (absolutely anything will be appreciated) please follow the instructions on this page

Apart from JustGiving’s small fee, all donated money will go to the patients in Malawi – donations will not be used to cover any of the costs of the trip.

Whether or not you contribute, we invite you to follow the journey on our website - https://sites.google.com/site/lahob2011 - which from 1st September will give a brief illustrated account of our progress from day to day – we'd love you to contribute comments to this blog at any time, as rude as you like.

Best wishes,

Liz, Christo, Ben, Malcolm.
