Virgin London Marathon 2015 · 26 April 2015 ·

The Charity turns the dreams of disabled people of all ages, and those who care for them, into reality. The recipients have to be recommended by an organisation and those receiving a Sporting Chance have to raise funds for a charity other than Give them a Sporting Chance. www.givethemasportingchance.com

Story

Thank you for taking time to read my page.

After more than a decade of marathon abstinence I thought it would be a great idea to mark my return to the UK from Australia with a little 26 mile trot around our fabulous capital.

Training for a marathon can be a real challenge (especially through my first English winter in many years!) so it's been important to have a good cause to put my trainers on for. Through a good friend I was introduced to the charity Give Them a Sporting Chance.

Give Them a Sporting Chance gives the disabled and their carers fun, life changing sporting or recreational experiences. These could be anything from tall ship sailing, swimming with dolphins in Florida, watching a Test Match at the Oval , taking the family to Disney World, to meeting world famous musicians or sporting heroes. A unique feature of the charity is that in return for living their dream through a Sporting Chance, the recipient also fund raises for an additional charity of their own choice and in so doing a vast array of other charities have benefited.

Please please get behind me to help me raise as much as possible for this great cause. In return I promise to try and beat my personal best - despite sadly being 10 years older!

Thank you so much,
George
