Welcome to our London marathon team page!

Story

As many of you will know, I ran the London Marathon 2014, then Brighton Marathon, London Marathon and London to Brighton 2015, to raise money for Cure Parkinson's Trust, a charity very close to our family.  My Uncle suffers with PD, and whilst I have always felt hugely helpless throughout his illness, I hope that I can at least do something to help such a worthwhile cause that is helping sufferers like my Uncle John.  After 3 years off running to have my little family, I have decided to run London marathon again and hopefully raise more funds for this incredible charity.  Many may think I have done this before so it should be easy, but with far more limited time to train, and following a lot of time out (not to mention growing and giving birth to two little ones in quick succession!), It is going to be a HUGE ask of my body, and hard hard work.  But it is truly nothing compared to what sufferers of PD endure.

The main reason for this choice of charity is because the trust is connected to the London Hospital where the surgeon informed my Uncle that they could improve his quality of life.  This was the hospital where they subsequently performed deep brain stimulation operation in February 2011.  As John says 'it is very near to his heart....and brain!', and such pioneering work is essential to help other sufferers in the future.

The Cure Parkinson's Trust excels in identifying research needed Parkinson's, and has a flexible approach to grant awards that avoid delays and bureaucracy that impede progress.  They have become the Michael J Fox Foundation of the UK, and the concentration on truly translational research that addresses patient expectations in Parkinson's is a refreshing approach in the search for a cure.

Thank you all for visiting my page, and I really appreciate your support and donations
