Last weekend we set off for Scotland full of blissful ignorance about what the weekend had in store. Saturday dawned bright and crisp as we headed for Ben Nevis - and just over 7 hours later most of us were back down the mountain, although Jo managed to twist her knee, ruling her out of Scarfell Pike.

Late on Saturday evening we headed for Wasdale Head to begin the climb overnight of Scarfell Pike -this proved to be a real challenge in the dark and the rain and when eventually the team emerged from the mist at the bottom of Scarfell they all looked like their spirits were broken - everyone had doubts about completing Snowdon later that morning.

However it is amazing how much you can recover your sense of humour and recharge your batteries with only 4 hours on a minibus, and by the time we arrived at Snowdon, the team was ready to get up and have another go at another mountain. We were late arriving and so couldn't meet the people that we support who had set off earlier, but knowing that they were up on the mountain having a go, gave us the determination to have one last go and as we set off the sun came out and was shining brightly which lifted everyone spirits.

We eventually completed Snowdon on Sunday evening and although we had missed the 24 hour deadline we still completed all three mountains which we all agreed was a massive achievement for each of us personally.

In total the team has raised in the region of £15,000 through the donations and support of our families, colleagues and friends and Avenues will use this money to make sure that the people we support have the opportunities to take part in activities which they enjoy and which may ultimately challenge them too.
