We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

LeJog was completed just after 3pm on Thursday 8th April 2010, a relatively early finish on the final day, being a mere 53 miles from Helmsdale to John O'Groats where the regulars were joined by Amy Spencer.              CONGRATULATIONS ALL - A truly exceptional achievement

At some point in 2009 it dawned on my brother in law, Iain, that both he and my sister Sally were 50 and that something should be done to recognise this landmark.

As a very young only child Iain lost his father to cancer. Sally being the oldest of four provided three willing siblings to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats with them both.

As a family we have suffered and survived cancers ourselves, Mark with testicular cancer and me with Leukaemia in 2001. Suffice to say our choice of charity was an easy one.

On behalf of all of us cycling and supporting I'd like to thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Sunday 21st March:   Great news, Matt Cullen is joining leJog on the first 4 legs starting this Wednesday. Please browse the photos to see the man in action!

Tuesday 2nd March:   Biopsy results recieved today state that an actinic keratosis was removed from my chest on 13th January. Thats good news I believe.

Wednesday 17th February:   'Tapering' is a new buzzword I heard today, something to do with scaling down the volume of training immediately prior to the event - only 4 weeks before the start now!

Saturday 6th February:   The part timer on the ride, me, went out on the bike for the first time in a while today. It was pretty hard and I think I've discovered a new condition called sofabum. It seems that when ones bottom does little other than sit on a sofa or in a car it forgets what to do on a bicycle saddle - achy, very achy. I trust that the regulars are not suffering such predicatable symptoms.    Not too long until we start now!

Saturday 23rd January:   The cyclists training is progressing well, new photos of Sally being uploaded today before a 45 mile training ride. Perhaps we could see ones taken after!

Monday 18th January:   The minor minor surgery went well and Wycombe Hospital were great as usual. I have a 2p sized hole on my right shoulder and also a 1p sized hole on my chest. Everything removed has been sent for biopsy and I'll get the results by post soon. Cyclists are practicing again after the anti cycling weather so all is going well.

Tuesday 12th January:      I have decided to join the team for part of the cycle ride. On Day 5 we are cycling from Portishead to Llanthony, a distance of 55 miles including crossing the old Severn Bridge. Not such good news though as I have to have a basal cell carcinoma removed from my right shoulder tomorrow.
