We empower young people to champion LGBT+ equality

Story

Just Like Us was founded for a simple reason: growing up LGBT+ is still unacceptably tough in today’s society.

Their mission is to empower young people to champion LGBT+ equality and to know that being LGBT+ is something to be celebrated.

LGBT+ young people still face unacceptable levels of lesbophobia, homophobia, biphobia and transphobia – 85% still regularly hear homophobic remarks (Prescient for Just Like Us, 2019).

These experiences can have a life-long negative impact and, while young people are struggling, their teachers and peers are rarely equipped with the information they need to support them.

In the workplace, too, LGBT+ young people often lack the confidence to be themselves and 35% of 18 to 29-year-old LGBT+ people are not out to any of their colleagues.
