Lanka Challenge · 28 August 2010

The Rainbow Centre works to address the serious problem of child poverty in Sri Lanka. It provides, education, welfare, medical assistance and loving support to children who live on the street, in slum housing and in conditions that threaten their survival.

Story

Basically it is girls versus boys in the challenge of challenges; no not climbing Mount Everest, or mud wrestling crocodiles, but Tukking it round the Island of Sri Lanka. The 2010 Lanka Challenge is a 12 day charity-driven challenge across Sri Lanka. Participants travel in Rickshaws (Tuk Tuks) across the beautiful country of Sri Lanka, stopping each day to take in local culture and beauty. More information can be found at www.lankachallenge.com

Neale Faulkner and Wes Tonner making up "Team Bootylicous" will be racing their respective other halves Lianne Dawes and Karen Tonner from "Team MotherTukkers". We are not sure what will happen, whether we will make it to the finish line or even alive, but one thing we must do is help the local people. Our aim is to raise money for a great charity to help the Sri Lankan people, who over the years have had several major challenges themselves (war and tsunami being the two biggest).

We are supporting a local charity called "The Rainbow Centrewho's aims are simple: to stop child abuse, to assist families in crisis and to provide an education that will enable children to break free from a cycle of poverty that has trapped them in a world of crime, exploutation and addicition. Please find it in your hearts to give kindly, as all money will go directly to this wonderful charity. For those of you donating in the UK make sure you make use of the "Gift Aid" option.

Thanks and keep on Tukking

Neale, Wes, Karen and Lianne
