Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Around 2 million people in the UK live with sight loss, and as a technician working in ophthalmology at the QE, I know all too well just how important having the latest technologies and machines is to all our patients, its potentially sight saving!
That is why this year Ive decided to take on the biggest sporting challenge of my life to help raise money for the Ophthalmology department.
The “Lap Cat to Lioness” challenge will see me run several events during the year: a 10km in April, a Half Marathon in August and a full Marathon in December, all of which are virtual challenges.
Virtual running works exactly the same as any other type of running but the difference is that the entered race can be run at any location, at any pace, inside on a treadmill or outside in another country! All you have to do is enter a race and provide evidence that you have done it.
I named the challenge “Lap Cat to Lioness” because within the Ophthalmology department I am known as ‘Kitty’ and before taking up this challenge I was like a lazy lap cat, i did no exercise but over the coming months I am developing and growing like a lion cub would, as at 9 months a lion can run anther top speed.
Kitty is going to run a Marathon with just 9 months of training.
Please help all of us in the ophthalmology department to help our patients by sponsoring me - every penny counts and thank you so much!
