Mr Jarrett and I are both teachers at Leigh Academy Rainham in Kent. One of our students was sadly diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma in March 2022. My Shining Star has been instrumental in supporting both the student and the family during this really difficult time and as a staff body we would like to do our bit in supporting this great cause to help other families in the future. 

To support the charity we will be completing a 40+ mile sponsored walk from the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton to Leigh Academy Rainham across three days from Monday 25th July to Wednesday 27th July. 

My Shining Star is a small charity based on Rainham, Kent. The charity understands the mental toll that a cancer diagnosis has on a family and My Shining Star supports families in the most difficult of times, when both the child and their familes need it the most. This support has included: food shopping for those who can't afford it; travel and parking expenses; help with mounting bills and paying for specialist equipment such as refrigerators to store medicines.
