Phoenix year end marathon · 28 December 2019

Street Storage was established in 2019 to allow people on the street respite from the physical and mental strain of having to carry belongings with them everyday. Long term and short term, we give people security and freedom and we have an immediate impact on their everyday lives.

Story

I have never run a marathon before, or even a half marathon... Why start now and resign myself to a very sober Christmas? This year my fabulous friend Rach Woolf has set up a new charity, Street Storage, and I’ve been so impressed by her incredible work and the positive impact she’s having that I wanted to help in some small way.

What does Street Storage do?

Imagine being homeless. Imagine having to carry all of your belongings with you every minute of every day and every night. Imagine the mental and physical strain of trying to keep your things safe on the streets.

This includes clothes, bags, bedding, tools for work and valuables. But also Passports, Right to Remain documents and proof of housing or work papers, which often get stolen or lost when people are forced to sleep out, causing distress and hardship to replace

Street Storage provides free, accessible safe storage to people experiencing homelessness. Street Storage allows people on the street respite from the physical and mental strain of having to carry belongings with them every day. Long term and short term, they give people security and freedom that has an immediate impact on their everyday lives.

How can you help?

Any donation, however small, will make a huge difference to the incredible work that Rach is doing. It will also help convince me that running a marathon straight after Christmas was a good idea!
