Hello, I'm Lara and I want to raise as much money as possible for Meningitis Research Foundation.
Now I knew next to nothing about meningitis until a secondary school friend of mine, Alex Bentley passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from the disease. He was just a month away from celebrating his 19th birthday.
Awareness of meningitis is so important, especially amongst university students like myself because it is our age that are most commonly affected by the disease. What people don't realise is just how frequent meningitis cases are. There are over 3000 cases in the UK every year. 1/10 out of these patients die and a further two are left with amputation, brain damage and deafness. It can take just 24 hours for someone to die of meningitis.
Meningitis C can be vaccinated but there are many other strains that have no cure...YET. By donating, you will be helping Meningitis Research Foundation:
