In May, Jonnie and I will be heading to Malawi to run the 2nd ever impact marathon in the small fishing village of Nkope. With average temperatures of 25 degrees, plenty of uneven ground and 6km of running on sand on the shores of Lake Malawi, it is set to be one of the toughest but most incredible runs we will have ever done. 

We are doing this to raise money to support the Naturally Africa Foundation. This organisation aims to work with and support the local community such that all the families in the region diversify their subsistence farms to improve the consistency of yields and the variety of the diets to combat chronic malnutrition. In this vein, the funds we raise will be used to be create a sustainable fish farm and permaculture homestead that will be a testing ground for new, resilient crops and farming techniques that creates a blueprint for all the families in the community to farm sustainably despite the creeping impact of Climate Change. The new crops will lead to diversified diets for the families of Nkope and will help to tackle both Global Goal 2 - Zero Hunger & Global Goal 3 - Good Health & Well-Being. 

Training has started for us in Nairobi (and already resulted in a sprained ankle!)  but we are hoping that the heat and altitude means we will be ready to go come May time... We are both incredibly excited and nervous to be taking on this challenge and would really appreciate any donations that you can make towards this important cause. We have covered all of our costs to get there, so every penny goes directly to the foundation.
