Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGIving page.
Largs Lifeboat Station has a B class, Atlantic 85 lifeboat, B-854 R A Wilson and the volunteer crew are available 24/7 for anyone who needs their help and are always there to answer the call. One of our crew members is a lady and we would welcome more. No experience necessary as full training is given. In 2020 we have had 45 call outs - the last being on 31 December! In 2019 it was 42. Overall the RNLI and UK Coastguard have had their busiest year on record. Our rescues have been varied including people and dogs in the water, various vessels in difficulty and most worryingly children in inflatables being blown out to sea.
To keep a modern fleet of lifeboats maintained, fuelled and ever ready to go to the rescue across Scotland is costly and we rely entirely on voluntary donations to ensure this service is maintained. Add to that the crew training and kit, and the pounds start to add up. It costs an average of £155k to run a lifeboat station in Scotland but this year with the implications of Covid-19, we haven't been able to fundraise to keep our lifeboats afloat.
We rely on donations to help RNLI crew save lives at sea - your donation to this page will help support the running costs of stations in Scotland including here in Largs. Thank you in advance - John Griffiths, Lifeboat Operations Manager, Largs.
