Rock Trust aims to prevent youth homelessness and to support young people to build better futures. Our role is to advise, educate and support young people. We want to enable them to build the personal skills and resources required to make a positive and healthy transition to adulthood.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year I was lucky enough to start my journey as a mentor for the Rock Trust supporting a young person who was struggling to achieve their goals. I have seen first-hand what great work this organisation does and how important it is for young people in Edinburgh who often have nowhere else to turn. It was such an incredible experience seeing this young person grow and recognising their potential and also learning more about myself and my own skills in supporting young people around me.
To support their work further I decided to run the Edinburgh half-marathon in an effort to raise money to enable them to keep supporting young people at the risk of homelessness. They work with young people coming out of care, those struggling to find a place to live and those who just need a little bit of help to get their life together.

This year has certainly not been easy but I can only imagine how hard it has been for those young people that have already been struggling to cope with their day to day life and now have to navigate their way through a pandemic that limits the services they can turn to and the people they can see and therefore places they could stay. I am fortunate enough to have a stable job and living situation and use this opportunity to not only challenge myself physically but importantly raise awareness for those out there who need some extra help and for such a fantastic organisation that despite the world going into lock down has continued to provide essential services and support to the young people in our community.

I know a lot of us might not be in a position to donate money at the moment but if you do have a few pounds to spare to support young people at the risk of homelessness you would really make a difference for a young person who might need a little extra help out there.

Also have a look at their website if you would like to know more or maybe even start volunteering with them. It is a fantastic opportunity to meet some incredibly young people and support their development as well as your own -
