Leeds to York Walk in memory of Larry Jordan

This year is the 31st annual walk / pilgrimage from Leeds to York which my Father Larry and Brother Michael, began on Easter Monday 1986.
No one could have predicted that, that 1st walk / pilgrimage would be the beginning of an annual, arduous & spirit lifting tramp across country and tarmacadam that has been done EVERY Easter Monday since that 1st one in 1986.
There are lots of people and characters who have succeeded in doing the walk over the past 30yrs and each year there is an ever present group of individuals, ( the hard-core ! lol ), for whom, quite simply, Easter Monday means walking to York.
There is only 1 person that has consecutively done the Easter Monday Walk since 1986 and that man is my father Larry Jordan.
Sadly my father passed away in May of 2015. 11 days before his 81st birthday.
He was an inspiration to so many and has left an amazing legacy of Faith and selflessness behind him.
For him the walk was very much a pilgrimage of Faith.
In fact he made the decision some years later, very much as an afterthought, that perhaps local charities could benefit from his endeavour.
Killingbeck Children's Heart Hospital was the 1st local charity to benefit. After the closure of Killingbeck Hospital in 1998 he decided that St. Gemmas, a greatly admired Leeds Hospice, would receive the sponsorship.
However some years ago he decided it was time that another local charity should benefit from the walk. That charity being Martin House Hospice for Children and Young People.
Quite simply this annual trek has raised tens of thousands of pounds for three very worthy Leeds charities.
This years walk will be the 2nd one without the Man who created it.
31 years ! EVERY STEP A PRAYER
