THE BASICS:
After chatting with Laura Jones from the IOM Branch of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer foundation, Howard and Christy decided to show willing and support a great cause : by leaping in to the Tapathon with all four left feet! It will be a spectacle if nothing else.
This means we have to learn a tap routine...but not just any tap routine... Here's the gen, from the charity itself "We’ve got BBC’s The Greatest Dancer finalist, Harrison Vaughan, to create an interpretation of Roy Castle’s original dance, with all the top tips and how-to’s so you can mimic it at home! "
Greatest Dancer Finalist? Roy's original dance routine? Move over Fred n Ginger - we got this! (FYI: we cannot dance.)
We hope to entertain you with our efforts and encourage you to chuck a few Manx pounds into this fab charity. If you like, you can also see it as paying us to stop. We have set our fundraising bar fairly low but hope we can smash the £150 target and make hundreds of millions with our sterling efforts. Ahem.
Gura mie mooar eu / thank you all very much for whatever you can contribute! Christy and H xx
ABOUT US: 'Late Lunch' is live from the Isle of Man every weekday on Manx Radio, produced and presented by Howard Caine and Christy DeHaven. www.manxradio.com.
THE CHARITY in their own words: The Roy Castle Lung Cancer foundation began its story on the IoM as the Lung Cancer Fund in 1991 when it was set up by Professor Ray Donnelly who was the Thoracic surgeon for the islands residents. We wanted to bring RCLCF back to the island to better support the Lung shadow nurse and patients here both via on island services and off island research. However, just as we were gaining momentum, and about to recruit and expand operations we had to adjust quickly to the unexpected Coronavirus crisis which took the whole world by surprise, which meant our income reduced drastically whilst the demand for our online and phone patient helplines increased as our patients were having to shield from the danger of Covid 19. We desperately need to regain the momentum as soon as we possibly can to ensure that patient support in all forms continues and to make sure that we can restart the valuable research needed to try to beat this terrible disease once and for all. https://www.roycastle.org/events/isle-of-man-tapathon/
