Bupa Great North Run 2012 · 16 September 2012 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

I grew up going to the Great North Run with my family whilst my dad took part. Many happy times were had at this special race and we loved the atmosphere, the place and the people. My nan in particular was so fond of those trips and held them close to her heart. Every year at the finish line I would tell both dad and nan that one year I would run the race myself so I could see just what my dad talked about and now this is the year!

I always imagined my nan would be at the finish line but she passed away last christmas from a stroke so because she can't be there to cheer me on I want to run in her memory and raise some money for a very worthwhile charity.

I've been training hard but running doesnt come as easily to me as it does to another member of my family! so it's going to be a challenge.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I understand that many people do things these days for charity and sponsoring can get expensive! I would really appreciate it if you could spare whatever you can.
