We raise funds to enable Moorfields Eye Hospital to continue to provide the highest quality care for our patients and their families and to help ensure it remains a world-class centre of excellence for research and education. With your help we can deliver the best eye care and shape its future.

Story

I am fundraising for Moorfields eye chairty this is my first challange on the 1st of August 2020 I will be doing 5 thousand miles in 500 days I will be doing 10 miles everyday walking running and cycling the challange will finish on the 14th of December 2021

I completed my first challange for moorfields eye chairty on the 14th of December 2021 my challange 5 thousand miles in 500 days started back on the 1st of August 2020 I did 10 miles everyday 5 pound was raised from this challange  I did mostly walking on this challange it has been amazing I have also set myself a bigger challange in 2022 to keep supporting moorfields eye chairty thank you for everyone’s amazing support 

on the 26th of October 2022 I will start my second challange to support moorfields eye chairty my challange is 15 thousand miles in 1 thousand days I will be doing 15 miles everyday I will be mixing it up with walking running and cycling and I would like to go past the target 15 thousand miles this challange will start 26th of October 2022 and will finish 22nd of July 2025 really looking forward to this challange supporting moorfields eye chairty can’t wait thank you for everyone’s support 

Moorfields  eye chairty supports Moorfields eye hospital to support their patients and their family’s it helps them to do  research so people can get the best treatment that is available 

Moorfields is a fantastic hospital when I lived in London I always went to Moorfields for regular checks I have a rare eye condition called Aniridia which means I have no iris which is the coloured part of your eye with the eye condition the pressure needs to be checked regularly I take eye drops in the day and for the evening to help to keep the pressure down 



My name is Laura cartmill I am 31 years old I am partialy sighted I was born with a rare eye condition called Aniridia which means I have no iris in either eye which is  the coloured part of your eye  when I go out I use dark glasses to help with the lights and cloud with the eye condition eyes are very sensitive to light I also have autisim 

I play football with all different disabilities I play in the devon  ability counts league for tavistock specials ladies  which is for all different disability’s and gives people a chance to play against other teams have fun and   it is a great way to socialise with others  I have also helped out with my football coach too we was branded the dream team it has been really good for my confidence and to socialise with others this season 2021 I have been coaching with the Tavistock specials league 2 team we are involved in the Devon ability counts league it’s for everyone with all different disabilities to play football against different teams have fun and a fantastic way to socialise with others I have been involved in disability football now for 10 years before I was involved in disability football I didn’t talk to anyone since being involved in disability football my confidence has been built tremendously and to socialise with others 

I also train with newton abbot soccaability on a Saturday morning with different disabilities I will be doing my football coaching course possibly in the future and I will also be helping out with the juniors with different disabilities these 2 clubs have been very supportive they organise a bright ball for me for each session
