We provide information, advice and local support to blind and partially sighted people across Bath, Bristol & South Gloucestershire. We help them to live independently with their sight loss, improving their quality of life by equipping them with the tools they need and running social activities.

Story


this is my 1st challange supporting sight support west of England this challange starts on the 26th of October 2022 and will finish on the 22nd of July 2025 my  challange is to do 15 thousand miles in 1 thousand days I will be doing 15 miles everyday I will be mixing it up by doing walking running and cycling I would like to achieve to go past the target 15 thousand miles I am really looking forward to this challange it is going to be amazing can’t wait  

Sight support west of England support people visually impaired across Bristol,bath,south Gloucestershire and Wiltshire areas sight support west of England support visually impaired in the south west with support and advice and they organise activities and social groups
In different areas in the south west it’s a life changer for so many people to socialise with others with sight loss they change so many lives without the support of sight support west of England a lot of people will feel isolated and on their own

Hi my name is Laura Cartmill i am 31 years old i am partially sighted I was born with a rare eye condition called aniridia which means I have no iris in either eye which is the coloured part of your eye this makes my eyes very  sensitive to any lights bright days and cloudy days and  can develop different eye conditions and I also have autisim 


I play for Tavistock specials ladies we are involved in the Devon ability counts league it is for everyone with all different disabilities we play against different teams we have fun and a fantastic way to socialise with others and to make friends they have been supportive they organise a bright football for me in each which makes it a lot easier for me to see this season 2021 I have been coaching with the Tavistock specials league 2 team we are involved in the Devon ability counts league it is for everyone with all different disabilities we play against different teams have fun and a fantastic way to socialise with others I have been involved in disability football for 10 years years now before I was involved in disability football I didn’t talk to anyone and since being involved in disability football my confidence has been built tremendously and to socialise with others which was hard for me before being involved in disability football 


In 2022 I play and coach the Tavistock specials ladies in the Devon ability counts league it is for everyone with all different and I also help out in another fun football session on a Wednesday evening to help people with all different disabilities
