Quit for the kids · 31 December 2012

Our work began in 2010 after being inspired by the stories of Esther, Grace and Obert. Thanks to our loyal donors, we have transformed their futures and now work with over 5,000 children in 9 schools and 7 ECD centres using 3 solid programmes - FEEDING, CONSERVATION AGRICULTURE & TEACHER TRAINING.

Story

My New Years Resolution is to quit smoking. I thought why not ask pople to sponser this, and give something back.

Every week I will put the money I would spend on cigarettes into the JustGiving fund and raise money for Zimbabwe's Forgotten Children.

Zimbabwe is a country that was doing really well until things went wrong due to political event. Now it is one of the poorest countries in the world, with one of the highest HIV/AIDs populations. This is scary to think.

I chose this charity after watching the documentary "Zimbabwe's forgotten children http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDezIzugLXU

To me it seems crazy that children are missing out on education because their families are too poor to afford it. They struggle to buy food let alone school fees. To us it would seem that the cost is very little about £500 a year, compared to some school that charge £3000 a year in the UK.

This charity helps children who cannot afford school to pay for their school fees, books and help them to get by to make a better life for themselves. Most of the children that cannot afford schooling have been affected by HIV at some point. I was toying between this and an HIV charity, but chose this charity as I know that al proceeds actually help children in Zim, as opposed to any corruption in the government having the money.

Please help me to support this. The big quit starts on 1st January 2013!!!!
