Laura’s story

As many of you know, my sister, kate, was diagnosed with leukaemia in May 2017. After months of gruelling treatment and some of the worst times of her and the rest of our family’s lives, where kate couldn’t see her young children for weeks on end and it was touch and go at times during her treatment,, she came through and is now in remission. Kate was allocated a place in the marathon this year but had to defer to 2019 due to obvious reasons, I couldn’t see her do it on her own so I decided to bite the bullet and do it too. Anyone who knows me will know I hate running and this is as far out of my comfort zone as I could ever be but, after seeing what kate went through, it’s not even comparable and I feel I need to give something back

Kate’s story

In May 2017 completely out of the blue I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.  After months of horrendous treatment and times when it was touch and go for me I was given the amazing news that I was in remission. Without the research and fundraising that charities like Leukaemia Care do remission would not be possible for as many people. Less than 18 months after my remission news I will be running the London marathon with 2 of my best friends for the amazing cause.

Sarah's Story

2017 was the toughest year for my lovely friend Kate when she was diagnosed with leukaemia. Having to watch such a loving, caring, young mum go through this was awful for all family and friends to see. There were tears, pain and lots of heartache for 6 months but Kate being Kate... the strong willed, laid back super star we all know and love has got through it, here to tell her story and even be able to run a marathon!! So proud of her, I certainly wouldnt want to do this with anyone else but her and her sister/my lovely friend Laura!! It's gonna be an emotional roller coaster as running isn't my favourite thing in the world but together we can do it!

BUT not only am I doing this with Kate/Laura I'm also doing it for my DAD and BROTHER who have both had prostate cancer... my dad has had alot of radiotherapy treatment over the years and more recently my brother has had the operation to have the prostate removed!!  With the strength and love off family and friends you can achieve anything. I'm absolutely made up that they will both be there to cheer me on because it was them who persuaded me to do this.

We would be forever grateful of any donations that  we receive and thank you from the bottom of our hearts, life is unpredictable and often cruel and we never know when we might need the help of charities and organisations such as this. Thank you for reading xx
