Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi, My name is Laura Graver and i'm 15 years old, but most of you reading this will probably already know this, and if you do, then you will also know the name Jo Brown, my "2nd mum", and the affect she had on my life. I can't remember a time in my life when Jo wasn't part of it, my family and Jo's have been friends for many years and have holidayed together twice a year for the past 10 or so.
Our lives were turned upside down on Monday May 21st last year (2012), following a hospital appointment for a chest infection it was found that Jo was indeed suffering from lung cancer and was terminal, no warning, no signs, no chance. Jo was a non smoker and had never smoked in all her 45 years, just goes to show that this awful disease doesn't discriminate and can target absolutely anyone.
We all booked a big family holiday as we always did twice yearly for October 8th, Jo didn't want the cancer to stop her/us from doing anything and she was so looking forward to it, unfortunately about 10 days before Jo took a turn for the worse and died just 4 days before the holiday on October 4th 2012, a lot quicker than had been anticipated.
Jo really was my second mum, and to my siser Lillie too. Myself, Lillie and my mum and dad miss her so much. I have the need to do something to help raise money for lung cancer to help stop other people having to feel how i feel, I'm 15 right now and can't skydive till i am 16 so that is why the jump is booked for August 18th, myself and Simon, Jo's husband are both going to do it for The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, please please please sponsor me, I don't want your life savings, just your small change would be great, I have already raised £160 before i set this page up, so just need to get another £240 on this page to make the jump for this great cause, anything over that will be a great big bonus.
Thankyou in advance if you do sponsor me, lets hope it can make a difference to someones life xxx
Love and miss you so so much Jo, always in my thoughts xx
