Bupa Great South Run 2012 · 28 October 2012 ·

We help people diagnosed with a brain tumour. We aim to give everyone diagnosed access to the resources that will put them back in control. We enable brain tumour patients and carers to become resilient and to utilise brain tumour support resources from all providers to their full potential.

Story

Hello,

I am taking part in the Great South Run on the 28th October ro raise money for the brain cancer charity BRAINSTRUST,  it's a ten miler so (and yes I am a rather slow, clumpy runner!) am hoping to get round it in around 2 hours.

I'm running in memory of Dan, my friend Suzanne's husband, who passed away last year.

Dan was 36 when he died, and as well as Suzanne he left behind two young sons, Jack and Christopher.  He'd previously been treated for skin cancer and had run the Great North Run himself in 2010 to raise funds for Cancer Research.  In the months that followed that, Dan started to suffer from terrible headaches, then just before Christmas he and Suzanne were given the devastating news that he had five brain tumours, and that he had 6-12 months to live. Dan died the following summer.

Brainstrust is dedicated to improving clinical care for brain tumour sufferers and offering support and advice at the point of diagnosis and beyond.  Please give a few quid if you can to support this important cause.

Thanks a lot,

Laura xx
