PC is a rare skin disease that involves painful calluses and blisters on the soles of the feet, thickened nails and cysts. Walking is difficult and sometimes impossible. |PC Project Europe is a SCIO SC046480 that works with PC Project, a 501(c)3 US public charity, to better serve patients in Europe.

Story

I think I was in year 3 when I first realised I was different. I can remember doing PE in school and my teacher questioning a blister I had on my foot. Since then I've spent my life trying to hide it and disguise my symptoms. After about 21 years of this I am tired. I have recently discovered the PC Project, and attended one of their meetings in Edinburgh where I met some amazing people, patients, scientists, doctors...all there to talk and share their stories and find a cure. This has inspired me to share my story and do some much needed fundraising. As this is an ultra rare condition the disease and the charity for it are small and unknown - so they need all the help they can get.

With the help of some cycling friends and my boyfriend I am taking part in a Wiggle bike ride - the Spring Saddle Sportive. I'm hoping that I will reach my target, maybe even exceed it and spread the word about PC. It's something which affects every day of my life, and every day I have pain, in varying amounts. Sometimes it's bearable and I'm used to it so it doesn't phase me, but other days it can be a nightmare. I have to tailor my life around it and make sure I plan what I do so that I can get through the day. I am determined to keep active and keep doing the things I love, and not to let this beat me.

Please support my ride and donate towards this fantastic cause, it has been my lifeline.

THANK YOU :)
