Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I will be so appreciative for any amount you donate, big or small!

In October I will be taking on the HUGE challenge of running the London Marathon. That's a whopping 26.2 miles! Many charities have struggled over the last 18 months and I wanted to take this as an opportunity to raise money for a cause close to my heart.

Anyone who knows me understands how important animal welfare is to me. Back in 2013 we collected Pip and Onzo from the RSPCA Radcliffe and I am fundraising to give something back to the shelter who looked after them so well for 7 whole months! The RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Shelter are an independent Trust, managed and financed separately to the national RSPCA but working alongside each other for the benefit of animal welfare. By donating through this page you are donating directly to the care of animals and work of Radcliffe Animal Centre. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals in need and provide them with the love, care and attention they deserve throughout their journey to find a forever home.

For more than 60 years Radcliffe Animal Centre has been responsible for the rescue and rehoming of thousands of abandoned and neglected dogs, cats and other animals; working alongside the RSPCA inspectors to support those involved in legal cases and provide these animals with the security they need during what can be a very uncertain time for them.

For those of you who need a little extra encouragement to donate, here are a few FAQs:

You run all the time, is this really a challenge for you?

In a word, yes. I am an experienced runner but I am NOT a distance runner! I am feeling very nervous, so taking the training seriously to help me get through race day. 4 weeks in and I have already clocked up over 125 miles. This is nearly 18 hours of running! On top of this, I'm also giving up alcohol until after race day.

October is ages away, why should I donate now?

JustGiving will send donations through as they come in, so the RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Shelter will receive your kind donation straight away. Knowing what a difference your donations will make will help get me through each mile.

Why aren't you fundraising for a 'people' charity?

Everyone has different charitable causes that are close to their hearts, and I completely understand that different causes resonate with different people. One point I will make is that animals have been shown to have huge benefits to humans, with many studies showing that pets can reduce loneliness, improve mental well-being and encourage physical health. So, by supporting the work of an animal welfare charity you can feel good that could indirectly make a change that significantly improves someone's life.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
