Woman's Trust supports women affected by domestic abuse by providing counselling and support groups. Domestic abuse affects 1 in 4 women in the UK, it is the biggest single cause of female depression and mental health problems. Help us make a difference and change women's lives.

Story

As we're all painfully aware, the UK and the world are currently locking down to stop the spread of Covid-19.

The focus and light being shed on mental health issues during this time is ever growing, and something that we should all be so proud of working against, but there is so much more we can do.

One cause that is really close to our hearts is that of women who are in abusive relationships at home, in which they are currently confined to. In the UK, 1 in 4 women will experience some form of domestic abuse, and it's vital that during these trying times they can still access help. It's never easy to cope with feelings of isolation - because of current events it's a feeling we are all being exposed to more than usual, however so many women in abusive environments feel this on a daily basis. Whether the abuse is mental or physical, suffering in silence and being forced to stay indoors with ones abuser is something most of us could never imagine, and hopefully will never experience. Woman's Trust work tirelessly to provide help to these women across London - and we want to contribute.

We will be 'Walking the Thames' during our isolation period; and at 215 miles, and 454,080 steps (each!), we hope that we can get as much support as possible to raise some money and awareness for this fantastic cause. We would love for everyone to guess how long it's going to take us to do, as even we're not sure living in a flat in London with our one walk per day!

Please feel free to explore the Woman's Trust where you can find more information about their work and see for yourselves the positive impact they have.

Thank you in advance for supporting us.

With love, Holly and Laura x
