My beautiful nephew Fēlix was born very prematurly last year and the staff at the McDonalds home where my sister, her partner and I were able to stay were so amazing and supportive during this hard times and gave us the opportunity to spend as much time as possible with him. The facility they offer are great for a family in a challenging time and the activities the staff set up to try and keep the families occupied during periods of respite are so thoughtful, kind and enjoyable. They offered the opportunity to help decorate the Christmas tree, made cakes and biscuits.
Jonathan and I are doing this run to help raise money for a amazing charity so other family's can get to spend as much time together as possible. And have some where to call home at the end of each day.
Sometimes, the best medical care isn't close to home. Ronald McDonald House Charities provides free 'home away from home' accommodation for families with children in hospital, so they can be together. There are Ronald McDonald Houses across the UK, all just moments away from their respective children's wards, with plans for further developments well under-way.The Charity has been supporting families for 30 years and in this time has supported nearly 50,000 families. As an independent charity, they rely on the support and generosity of volunteers, fundraisers and donors, including you!
