Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Piper Alpha oil disaster which was the worst ever oil disaster, claiming the lives of 167 men on 6th July 1988. My dad was one of those 167. The Piper Alpha Memorial in Hazelhead Park, Aberdeen, has the name of every man etched into it and ensures that we keep their memory alive and remember the great sacrifice they made. Many lessons were learned from this disaster and it is vital that we keep their memory alive. Lest we forget.
The Pound for the Piper Memorial Trust work tirelessly to raise funds to maintain the memorial and surrounding gardens. (www.poundforthepiper.co.uk).
This year, on the 30th anniversary, I would like to raise funds to support them in this endeavour.
I have set myself the challenge of running a marathon or ultra-marathon every month in 2018. These races range from 26.2 miles to 100km and would appreciate your support through donations. You could donate a little after I complete each race or make a one-off donation.
Either way, you can follow my progress here and on facebook. Thanks in advance for supporting this cause that lies close to my heart and that of the other Piper families.
