This September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I'm taking on The Virtual Gold Ribbon Run for Children with Cancer UK. I know this will be a huge challenge for me as I have never run before - not even for the ice cream van! However, there was no way I could scroll past this and not sign up given what me and my family have been through in the last year or so.

On the 7th April 2020 I was told that my son had cancer at 15 months old. Our whole lives were completely turned upside down in seconds. It was the scariest time of our lives but after 6 months of fantastic hospital care including chemotherapy, blood transfusions and major surgery,  it was over for us. Every child is not that lucky. Children with Cancer UK actively raise and invest money for vital specialist research to save the lives of every child with cancer and keep their family together. 12 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. By taking part in this challenge, I am helping more children and young people ring their End of Treatment bell.
