Come Fly With Gi Trek · 1 May 2021 to 7 May 2021 ·

This team will be taking on a 100km trek over 5 days along the South West Coast path with 6 nights camping under the Cornish stars - whatever the weather! This is a bespoke adventure and absolutely without a doubt, a challenging trek.

Story

Welcome to my fundraising page for taking part in the Come Fly with Gi Challenge with CoppaFeel! We were supposed to be trekking 100km of the Sahara Desert but Covid soon put a stop to that. Instead, from 12 - 18 September 2021 I will be trekking the mountains and glens of the Scottish Highlands. Over the course of the 5 day challenge we will be reaching the summit of some of the highest mountains in the Highlands by day and camping by night.

If you know me you know that breast cancer and ovarian cancer are no strangers to my family. I'm a BRCA1 gene mutation carrier. This means that there's a 60-85% chance my boobs will try to kill me and a 40-60% chance my ovaries will. So I've taken matters into my own hands. In 2019 I had my ovaries removed, putting me in menopause at the age of 34. In 2020 I had a double mastectomy and reconstruction. Both surgeries have drastically reduced my risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. So now I'm ready for my next challenge! A Highlands trek to raise funds for this fantastic charity,

Your donations will not only support my fundraising target, but most importantly CoppaFeel!, who are on a mission to stamp out the late diagnosis of breast cancer by making sure that young people are regularly checking their boobs and know their bodies to be able to have the confidence to see their GP if something just doesn't feel normal. Thanks so much for your donation & support. To find out more about CoppaFeel! head to www.coppafeel.org.
