Women take on Snowdon · 21 April 2018

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

A relationship breakdown can happen for a million worse reasons than just cheating. My divorce has taught me one huge lesson: how lucky I am.

I didn't need a safe space to go, and I hope I never do, but that is a horrible reality for far too many women. With local authority funding for women's shelters being cut year on year, charities like Refuge are becoming more and more important as one of the few options women have to have a safety net.

So, surrounded by some of the amazing women who have raised me up over the last few months, I want to walk up a mountain and raise money for other women. Help me get off my butt and walk pls

Want to know why Refuge are important?

One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner.

Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

By kindly sponsoring me today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence.Thank you.
